Ocean Dock

The Bamfield Dock is one of those builds. A project that other companies looked at and walked away from, citing conditions that were too difficult, a location too unreasonable, and an installation that didn't fit the way they operate. We took one look at it and saw exactly what it was: a challenge worth taking seriously.
The Location
Bamfield sits on the west coast of Vancouver Island, the kind of place that earns its reputation. Beautiful, remote, and unforgiving when it wants to be. The client needed a dock installed in a location that had turned away every other company he approached. Difficult access, demanding terrain, and a site that required a level of problem-solving that most contractors aren't equipped for.
We were.
The Build
The ramp alone tells the story. At 140 feet long and set at a 14 degree angle, it's not a structure you engineer casually. Every foot of it had to be designed to handle the grade, the load, and the long-term stress of regular use in a coastal environment.
The width was deliberate too. At 5 feet across, the ramp was built specifically to accommodate a golf cart or side-by-side, giving the client the ability to get to his boat and dock comfortably as the years go on. That kind of forward thinking doesn't come from a catalog. It comes from listening carefully to what a client actually needs and building for the long term.
The dock itself came in at 20 by 52 feet, a substantial platform built to the same standard as everything else on the project. Decking was finished in composite, one of three options we offered alongside aluminum and wood, giving the client the look and feel he wanted with the durability the location demands.
The Result
The Bamfield Dock stands where nothing else could. It's a build that required creative engineering, a team willing to work in conditions others refused, and a commitment to getting it right regardless of what the site threw at us.
Some jobs remind you why you do this work. This was one of them.
